Classroom observations
As a teacher at ASM, your classes will be formally observed by the School Principal at least once a year in line with the eleot requirements. Prior to the observation you will be informed what class the Principal will visit and what you will need to have ready prior to the observation (normally a complete lesson plan together with any additional materials used).
To help you prepare, here are the eleot Reference Guide and the eleot Rating Guide. Review these documents so you are fully aware of the observation criteria and expectations.
For new teachers, the same applies, but the Principal will visit your class more often, more to assist and offer suggestions for improved teaching.
Based on classroom observations, the Principal will consider particular training courses/professional development courses that would assist an individual teacher in their work, focusing on areas that are both of interest to the teacher and what the Principal considers may prove useful in bolstering an area of that particular teacher’s methodology.
